Programme 02

പാടി മുന്നേറാം, Paadi Munneram, Let us Sing.

A team writes and sings its own songs. Slow, shared, sung breathing takes the room out of a threat state. Singing badly in front of colleagues and not being punished for it is psychological safety learned as evidence rather than announced as a policy.

What happens.

Nobody is asked whether they can sing, because the question is the problem rather than the filter. The day begins with breath and with sound made together, which is the one musical act that has no wrong version. Slow, shared, sung breathing takes a room out of a threat state, and it does it in minutes rather than in a workshop about stress.

Then the team writes. The words come from the room: what this year has actually been like, what the work is, what everyone knows and nobody has put in a sentence. This is the part clients underestimate. A group writing its own lines has to agree on what is true, and that negotiation is more honest than any offsite exercise designed to produce it, because the lyric has to scan and a platitude will not.

The rest of the day is rehearsal, and rehearsal is where the real mechanism sits. If one voice comes in late, everybody hears it, immediately, and the group repairs it in the next bar. Nobody convenes a review. Nobody assigns blame, because there is no time and the music is still going. A team that has done this for four hours has practised dependability and repair several hundred times.

A platitude will not scan. The lyric makes the group agree on what is actually true.

The day ends with the songs performed, to each other or to a wider group in the organisation. Singing badly in front of colleagues and not being punished for it is psychological safety learned as evidence rather than announced as a policy. That distinction is the whole programme.

What we measure

Psychological safety on the seven item team scale, anonymous, before the session and again at thirty days. It is free, it takes four minutes, and your own HR team can run it without us.

Salivary cortisol before and after, when you want the stress claim read physiologically rather than reported.

What we do not claim

We do not claim that a day of singing fixes an organisation whose problems are structural. Workload, job design and management practice are out of reach of a song.

We do not claim lasting change in anyone's cognition from one day. What the day restores is a capacity in the people, which is a smaller and different claim.

The full evidence base, including the claims we have retired, is published here.

A team that has sung together badly has already told each other the truth once.

Eight people, one room, no preparation.
